After a 9 day holiday on The Island I have some new pictures and updates to apply. Favourite place for food this year is The Yarbridge Inn, Brading and our favourite attraction this year is The Isle of Wight Zoo. Favourite FREE place to visit is without doubt the ever popular and expanding Garlic Farm.

A couple of new entries into Isle of Wight Local Events pages including UK’s first German Pop-up Restaurant and Beergarden at The Mill Bay Inn, Ventnor.

Ventnor, Shanklin, Sandown have kept their Blue Flag awards for 2011 as well as a total of another 8 beaches being awarded Quality Coast awards. These have been updated within my recommended beaches section.
All Tourist Information Centres on The Island have been closed as from end of March 2011 after a decision by The Council. An attempt to partly fill this lack of services is being offered by Southern Vectis a local bus company, they have information offices in Yarmouth, Cowes, Ryde and Newport. I am sorry for this far from ideal situation for present and future tourism on The Island.

Isle of Wight local events pages have been updated with a few happenings at Osborne House and St. Mary's church in Brading. I have finished reading Gay Balwdwin's new ghost book recently published titled Ghosts of Knighton Gorges and very good it is, a fascinating and detailed read, for those who have enjoyed her previous books or are interested in the well known Knighton Gorges you will not be disappointed.

Two more beaches are featured in our beaches guide. After enjoying ourselves in The Owl and Monkey Haven this deserves a recommendation within my attractions section.
Just got back on the 7th after spending a great 2 weeks on The Island. I have some updating to do with new places that we visited, updated areas will be mentioned here. The Taverners in Godshill, Benghal Palace nr Newport and The Propeller Inn, Bembridge are the new places deserving a recommendation in my Pubs for a drink and Pubs for Food sections.

11 Isle of Wight beaches achieved Quality Coast Awards this year and the Marine Conservation Society and EnCams Blue Flag awards for 2010 are now included in my beach guide.
