Ventnor 7

These apartments have now been completed on the former site of The Metropol Hotel. These have fantastic views in this sheltered and warm location. However these are up for sale at £325K.

The ground floor will be for shops or cafe's. With the upper balconies and ground level metal veranda this building tastefully replaces the former.

It was known as The Queens Hotel in Victorian times and to the right {where The Mill Bay now has its outside area and conservatory} there used to be The Esplanade Hotel. See Victorian Ventnor page 9.

The Wintergardens Bar and small theatre has also had a bit of a revamp on the outside. Local societies as well as groups can be seen here such as The Damned, Hazel 'O' Connor.

Blakes deckchair hire, 2006 Blake's fishing hut and deckchair hire has been a permanent part of Ventnor for many years. Very reasonable freshly caught Crab & Lobster is sold here.

The Longshoreman's Museum opposite is also owned by the Blake family.

Ventnor Council have since met the new standards required by the Blue Flag Status with a purpose built Lifeguard Hut with new facilities and equipment, after much local lobbying. Ventnor will have the Blue Flag status back for 2008 season.
