Ventnor beach looking South of left from the new harbour wall. Taken summer 2005. We had some great weather with some very rich blue skies.

The beach is popular with families, however water sports are not permitted due to hidden rocks.

Ventnor Bandstand and small harbour can be seen on the right of this picture. The construction work in blue screening is where apartments and shops are being built on the site of The Metropol Hotel.

This building work has now been completed, see page 9.
 


This is looking East or right from the new harbour wall. The building high on the top right is The Coastal Enviroment Center where there is information and displays about enviromental protection and monitoring that takes place on The Island.

Leftward from that is The Wintergardens in white where there is a bar and occasional live bands and theatre groups perform at the Theatre/Auditorium.

The Rex Piano Bar & Restaurant, this is a new building replacing the old Rex cinema and in later days the amusement arcade that used to be here.  It is quite worrying when walking under that rocky outcrop on the left of the picture.
