There are plenty of thatched 'olde worlde' pubs with old beams and the like inside, there are some in really unusual or isolated locations, or some will have outdoor play areas and gardens for children or some with fine views, and some are really hard to find!
Many of the pubs are highly geared up for serving food and the size of the servings are nine times out of ten on the large side. Fresh seafood is also locally caught and available, highly recommended is Ventnor crab and lobster dishes.

Recommended Pubs for Food or Recommended Pubs for Drinking
My personal favourite pub for a drink in 2012 is The Fisherman's Cottage, Shanklin beach, on a good day sitting outside just a stride away from the beach!
My personal favourite for food in 2012 is without a doubt The Yarbridge Inn, Yarbridge near Brading - well done!
'Typical' Island prices for food.
During the holiday season there is usually live music at most pubs on The Island especially in Shanklin Old Village at the weekends!
Due to the fact that we have always stayed in the lower half of The Island these recommendations are biased toward that area and are by no means an extensive recommended list covering the whole Island. Recommendations are from personal experience only and as in most cases are the results of more than one visit over a few years.
