Lots of pine trees here and several footpaths leading from the main one which leads you to the red squirrel hide.
Opened by Sir David Bellamy a couple of years ago, there are information boards dotted about. The best time to see red squirrels is early morning and late afternoon in the summer. We saw conifer bits dropping out of a tree that was a couple of yards from the hide, but the squirrel was that high in the tree tops we could not see it.
A carving on the way to the hide. Don't be disappointed if you do not see a red squirrel, have a look for evidence on the forest floor instead. The reds are very very shy and timid and spend most of their time in the trees. We saw three this year, all of them not at Parkhurst Forest!
