Guest book 2006 - 2008

We'd like to know what you think about our Isle of Wight attractions web site.

Is there something you would like to see put in?  Have you visited the I.O.W. before?  Please send me your comments in this public guest book so we can share your thoughts with other visitors.

Have you any distant memories of The Island or an old picture you would like to see included? {full credit will be given to the owner of the picture} if I get enough pictures from visitors then another visitors picture gallery could be added to my site.

Email me at isle-of-wightattractions@ntlworld.com

Many thanks in advance for any comments posted. Old comments can be seen here.

Comments sent via email will be put here, this is due to a minority of people and automated scripts who posted a large amount of advertisements and unwanted links on a daily basis in the past.

One of the best websites I have had the pleasure of looking at. Excellent quality photographs and lots of useful information. The Isle of Wight is one of my favourite places to visit. If I can't get back to visit, I know that I will be able to come to this site to enjoy it. Keep up the great work. Suzanne

Simon, this is a wonderful tribute to such a beautiful Isle. Thank you for "putting" it all together for everyone to enjoy. It's been many years since my last visit to the IOW, but it won't be long before my return this summer. I flew over the IOW on my return to the States, it appeared as lovely even from 10K feet up. LOL Once again, thank you for your website of the Isle of Wight. Sincerely: Mr. Lin Thompson, South Dakota, USA

Thanks to all the useful information provided on ur great site, I was able to organise a memorable birthday for my mother in law.

Your suggestions and recommendations proved to be very helpful. I hope there are such sites for all tourist places in Europe.

Keep up the good work :-)    Honey Jain

Hi, What a fantastic site!  There is so much useful information, whether you're a 'new to the Isle of Wight' a holidaymaker, or like myself 'a seasoned Fan'. I am totally obsessed with the Island. As a teenager I holidayed there with my parents and have been 'Utterly Captivated' by it's Beauty ever since. I have returned as often as possible since then with my own family('tho not nearly as often as I'd like). I have just spent the most enjoyable hour on your site getting thoroughly excited about our next visit in August.    Thank You so much, Keep up the good work.  Jeanette Mann

I do not think the Mill Bay should be demolished, or that anyone should have the right to demolish it. We have lost many good buildings in Portsmouth with deep regret. Once gone they can never be replaced, I say no. The main beauty of the island is that it has been unspoilt for so long and I put this down to a caring council. Something, we unfortunately lack in Portsmouth.     Andrea

I used to live in Ventnor for a considerable amount of years.I now live in Godshill.I used to work in the Mill-Bay when a guy called Jim Sladden used to own it.I am absolutely horrified at the thought of what they have got planned for this lovely old pub.Ventnor in my oppinion is gradually going down hill, and this will just add to it.As you rightfully say it does a roaring trade in the summer. It is not if so the building is in a bad state either so why the hell can't they leave things alone.

Hi, have just come accross your website and also your comments about the demolishion of the Mill Bay. I aggree with you totally.
Now as a matter of interest are you aware that there is a continueing attempt by the owner of Cheeta Marine to build a Boat Factory on the Eastern Esplanade below the Winter gardens,in front of the Cascade waterfall arch and directly alongside the 'Island' paddling pool.
I  and many other's are totally against both of thes proposals and have registered our objections to the planning authority. You still have time to do the same should you be so inclined.
Yours Sincerely Richard Julian.

Very much enjoyed your site and agree with you that the Mill Bay should remain.

Hi,  I too was at St Catherines, during the years of 1956-58.  Whilst it all seems a long time ago, the experience has never really left me, and I find myself thinking about those times quite often.

Children had no rights then, as they do now.  I always thought I was there because my family didn’t want me.  Nobody told me I was there because of my health, or that I would, one day, be going home.  We only had visitors twice a year and never ever went home.  Today, things are so changed.

For all that, I had a happy time up there on the hill with the nuns.  They were so caring, as were all the staff.  I enjoyed school there too.  With a view from the classroom of the sea, how could we not enjoy our lessons!  Too many years have passed now, but I so wish that I or someone else had initiated a kind of re—union back in the 60’s or 70’s.  I remember most of the girls in St Joseph’s House, and a good many of the boys.

I did come back to Ventnor in the early 90’s.   Many changes at St Catherines!!  Not an ‘open air’ school any more.  I remember waking with dew on the top blacket, the windows were always open.  From my bed, at night, I could see the flash from the Lighthouse.  I’ll stop rambling.

Great website.  Loads of useful info.  So glad I looked at it!

My only comment is it would be useful to have a printable version of the "things to do / attractions" section, rather than have to print off page by page.

Thanks

HI, JUST TO SAY, EXCELLENT SITE, AND SOME GREAT PICTURES. I DON'T GET TO IOW AS MUCH AS I'D LIKE.
MY FIR!ST VISIT WAS AS A CHILD WITH MY MUM AND DAD, SO IT WILL ALWAYS HOLD SPECIAL MEMORIES.
AND NOW THAT I HAVE A FAMILY OF MY OWN, IT'S WONDERFUL TO SEE THAT THEY LOVE IT TOO.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.

Just stumbled across this site whilst looking for something different

to do at the weekend.

I've almost exhausted weekend entertainment options for my 3-year old

little boy.

Anyway, I don't think I've ever seen such a comprehensive and well put

together site about the Island.
