'Typical' Pub Food prices on The Isle of Wight 2012

Food is plentiful on The Isle of Wight and the majority of the pubs are highly geared up for it.

Seafood especially crab and lobster are locally sourced and Ventnor Bay crab has a strong flavour.

Portions are 9 times out of 10 on the large side so make sure you are hungry!

'Typical' average prices and foods from several pubs in The South of The Island, in 2012 are displayed below:

Scampi £9.50 - £10.25

Fresh Crab Salad {not whole} £12.00 - £13.25

Fishermans Pie £8.95 - £9.95

Chilli and Jacket Potato £7.00 - £8.50

Childrens Meals £4.50 - £5.75

Crab Sandwich/Baguette {usually with side salad} £6.50 - £8.00

Obviously Restaurant prices may be more than those examples above...

There are some very reasonable prices {although possible smaller portions but that suits some people with lighter appetites anyway} to be found at various Cafe's. There are cafe's on the Esplanade's at Shanklin, Ventnor, Steephill Cove for example and also at Rylstone Gardens, and The Smuggler's Haven Tea Rooms and a large majority of these use fresh local crab.

Fresh Crab and Lobster from The South of The Island may be purchased directly from The Ventor Haven Fishery on The Esplanade adjacent to the Isle of Wight shaped paddling pool or from The Fisherman's house adjacent to the cafe' at Steephill Cove.

Price increases: We have found that adult main meals can sometimes increase by about 50p a year later.

Smaller portions: More Pubs are now offering smaller portions since 2008 which is a good idea for those with a smaller appetite or those that have a young teenager which enables more choice of children's meals, priced around 60% of the larger portion.
