Lancaster flying over the Derwent reservoir

Lancaster over the Derwent reservoir.

One of the best moments of the day for me was waiting for the Lancaster to appear in the distance when someone nearby said they had spotted it far away down the valley towards the Howden Dam area. Then everyone saw it - no sound at all - it was turning and dropping down into the valley a couple of miles away, no colours or details could be seen just like a very large moving 'shadow'.

Sometime afterwards {which seemed like ages} the Lancaster came into view in the valley above the Derwent's reservoir heading for the dam. Awesome.
