Lancaster over the Derwent Dam

Lancaster over the Derwent dam.

After the memorial service which started at 10am, the fly past arrived at precisley 10.30am. There were quite a few hundred people up where I was, plane enthusiasts, press, as well as ramblers and 'ordinary' folk of all ages. It was a good atmosphere and an experience to cherish.

The large majority had climbed up the steep valley from the front as I did, but some came over the moors further behind me after parking a few miles away.

The weather did worsen slightly from earlier, heavy cloud cover and a haze over the bank opposite. This was my first sighting of a real Lancaster!
