"This 17th Centuary Packhorse Bridge whose original site at Derwent was submerged was re-erected in 1959 by public subscription".
"As a memory to John Derry who inspired in others his love for the Derbyshire and Yorkshire hills".
This bridge used to be near Derwent Hall {which was demolished in 1943 and area subsequently flooded} but was then removed stone by stone and each one numbered. It was then put into storage until money was later raised to rebuild it.
